Cylindrical Bearings

Cylindrical Bearings- Different Types of Bearings and Its Use

Cylindrical Bearings

A bearing is a component that is used between two different parts that permit liner movement or rotational movement. This is to help to reduce friction and also saves energy. We are depending on many machines in our daily life. Sometimes metal and plastic bearings are used in these machines; for example, in refrigerator, computers and even in cars.

There are varieties of bearings which are designed to carry specific purposes like the type of loads, radial or thrust. Some of them are plain bearings, rolling element bearings, jewel bearings, fluid bearings, magnetic bearings, and flexure bearings etc. Cylindrical Bearings comes under roller bearings.

Advantages and Features of Spherical Ball Bearing
There are some bearings which are composed of two rows of ball bearings and it has one spherical raceway on the outer ring. These bearings are called Spherical Ball Bearing. These ball bearings help in self-aligning and thus protect the machine from misalignment problems. Especially this bearing is designed, where there is a chance of alignment errors.

These bearings are suitable for to use in high-speed applications. Also, among other rolling bearings, the spherical ball bearing is the one with the lowest friction. These are used in agricultural machinery, pumps, fitness machines etc. These bearings are divided into two according to the ability for lubrication. They are:-

    • Maintenance-Free Spherical Plain Bearings
    • Spherical Plain Bearings Requiring Maintenance (Lubrication)

Characteristics of Spherical Plain Bearings
Some bearings sizes can be customised according to the customer’s demand. Spherical Plain Bearings comes in this list. It is also known as spherical ball bushing bearings or ball bushings bearing.

This bearing has an inner ring with a sphere convex outside surface. Also, an outer ring with a corresponding sphere, but not convex, it is concave inside surface. Where an alignment between shaft and housing comes, these bearing design are suitable as it helps to make them bearing arrangements.

A simple concept is used in each bearing, that is, things roll well than they slide. Also, wheels of a car without bearing would shake. All the components have their own function. A complete machine is said, when all the components in it function properly and bearing helps these out.

Cylindrical Bearings and Its Specifications
In some bearing cylinders are used as the rolling element and are designed to carry heavy radial loads. These bearings are called cylindrical bearings. These are made with single row, two rows or multiple rows. These bearings are applied in many series and many shapes and widely used in many industries.

The design of Cylindrical Bearings are much popular in market because of many features like the combination of high load volume, moderate speed rating. The main feature is the industry interchange capability.
